Anjuna: Anjuna Police have arrested a Nepalese national in connection with a daring night-time burglary at a supermarket in Demello Wado, Anjuna. The case was registered as Anjuna Police Station Crime No. 105/2025 under Sections 331(4) and 305 read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), based on a complaint filed by local businessman Ian Francis D’Souza (40), resident of Gumal Vaddo, Anjuna.
According to police, the theft occurred in the early hours of July 17, between 1:00 am and 1:30 am, at the complainant’s supermarket, Oxfen Arcade Pvt. Ltd., near Starco Junction. Two unidentified male suspects, both aged between 25 and 35 and wearing face masks, allegedly gained access to the premises by cutting the metal grill of the rear window. Once inside, they stole approximately ₹1.9 lakh in cash, which was stored at multiple locations in the store, before fleeing the scene.
Following an intensive investigation, police successfully tracked down one of the accused, Mr. Prithvi alias Ashish s/o Himal Mijar (28), a private sector employee hailing from Chitpol village in Bhaktapur district, Nepal. He was intercepted at the India-Nepal border while attempting to flee the country and was brought to Goa on July 21.
The accused has been remanded to six days of police custody for further investigation. Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the second suspect involved in the crime.
