NERUL: After a spike in Covid 19 cases, the Nerul Village Panchayat on Monday has decided to go for a partial lockdown of 8 days.
The decision was taken at a special meeting which was attended by local MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar, panchayat officials along with concerned citizens.
“After 26 Covid positive cases found in Nerul, it is decided Nerul would go for a 8 days lockdown in which Essentials like Grocery shops and pharmacy will be opened from Morning 7 am to 12 pm.” MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar
North Goa Collector R Menaka, in an order issued on Sunday had declared Ward No 1 (Fattawada), in Nerul, comprising of 14 houses are declared as a micro containment zone, while the three more houses in the ward as buffer zone for being vulnerable to the spread of COVID.
Also an eight-member Rapid Response Team, headed by Bardez Deputy Collector, has been constituted to investigate the outbreak and initiate control measures by assessing the situation.
The North Goa Collector has ordered sealing of the micro-containment zone while banning movement of people in or out of the area except for medical emergencies and for maintaining supply of essential goods and services.
The Health Department has been directed to ensure that sufficient numbers of teams comprising medical, ANM are in place for door-to-door thermal screening in the containment zone and also for health check of sick persons.
