Camurlim: A new multipurpose sports turf which will cater to four different sports disciplines will be inaugurated on Sunday February 28 in Camurlim, it was revealed on Saturday.
Sport lovers keen to indulge their favorite sports of hockey, tennis and cricket besides football will be able to do so at the venue, which is spread over an area of 8500 square metres.
The new facility is built by Vaz Dynamic Sports and will the logistics will be managed by them. The land to the project has been donated by Veerendra Souza Ferrao and Nave Marg foundation are the sponsors.
Besides a tennis court, the facility will have a hockey 5-a-side, space for cricket and football.
“It’s a multipurpose turf and people can book the court and it will help promote football and a host of other games,” said Charlton Vaz, Managing director of Vaz Dynamic Sports.
Charlton, a former I-league footballer and now a qualified Futsal coach, will be running the day-to-day affairs of the sports courts in association with his brother Joshuah Vaz.
For Vaz Dynamic Sports this is the second turf they have built and they will be managing in Goa.
In January this year, they inaugurated a football training facility Kingsturf in Verna, which is the first project expertly designed and executed by Vaz Dynamic Sports for Mr. Reynold Abranches,
The Verna court is an artificial turf ground spread over an area of 800 square metres.
The new facility in Camurlim will be inaugurated by Savio Madeira, All Indian Football Federation, Head of Coach Education, who will be the Chief Guest for the inauguration ceremony
On the occasion Dr Celso Fernandes of Nave Marg foundation, a trained dentist and now a financial consultant will be releasing his seventh book on how to manage finances.
Says Dr Celso, “For me I’m very excited about this new project as it will help lot of people from Shiroda, Loutilim and Raia to get these international standard facilities in their locality. Over all for me it’s just giving back to the society with the blessings, I have been showered with.”
Veerendra Souza Ferrao, who donated the land, says “I had piece of land which was used to sharpen my son’s goal keeping skills and at times some friends used to come and play. I felt why not get a proper state of the art turf and a professional who could train the youth and provide them with the right guidance and there are lots of talent in our village and state.”
He says the journey in achieving the dream was a long one. He thanked Dr Celso and Joshua Vaz and the rest of the team, who just took this dream to another level.
“It will be an excellent opportunity for my village and neighbouring brethren to take full advantage. not bearing youth or old in mind as it’s one of a kind first multisport facility in Goa,” he said.
