PONDA: Ponda locals complaint against hill cutting in monsoon for four lane work on NH. In their complaint to additional Collector Ponda citizens urged to take necessary action for safety.
Locals fears landslide, accidents on NH due to hill cutting in monsoon for four lane work on Bethora-Borim NH.
The irked locals John Mascarenhas. Pritesh Gaonkar including Ponda based Social worker Viraj Sapre today filed complaint with Ponda Deputy Collector demanding that incase of disaster, loss of life or property, accidents and landslide on NH due to digging on road in monsoon,the concern PWD Officials, AE, JE, supervisor be held responsible incase of fatalities and disaster on road and that they should be booked under section 304 of Crpc Act.
Locals alleged work is progressing in unsafe manner without safety precaution. Locals even blamed the contractor, PWD officials for hill cutting for four lane widening work when already rain has been commenced. They recalled the landlside that was occurred on same road at Kerya few years back due to hill cutting for road widening.
In their complaints the citizens mentioned that commuters cant use the road to its full extent due to hill cutting and this work has potential of major landslide on Highway, disaster and accidents. The Citizens even alleged the contractor not following traffic guidelines
