PORVORIM: The Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today maintained that the notification covering COVID-19 treatment under the Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY) would be withdrawn.
Speaking to reporters, Sawant said that DDSSY benefit for COVID-19 is not required as the government has put in place all the required infrastructure as well as finalize package for treatment in private hospitals.
“The decision to include COVID-19 under DDSSY was taken in March, when State was not equipped to deal with the infection. However, the notification was issued now, which will be withdrawn,” he maintained.
Under the DDSSY, for COVID-19 treatment, for the patients with moderate symptoms Rs 4,600 per day will be paid with provision of Rs 64,400 for a 14 day package. For patients with severe symptoms Rs 6,600 will be paid per day with Rs 92,400 package.
The notification was issued on October 8; and the same was kept in abeyance on October 11.
