PANAJI: While stating that typographical errors led to mistakes, Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira has said that the State government has not increased the application fees for beach weddings and private events to Rs 1 lakh per day.
“The state government has not increased the application fees for beach weddings and private events to Rs 1 lakh per day. The notification issued regarding scrutiny fees for the applications submitted to GCZMA), had typographical errors,” said Sequeira
According to Sequeira, the costs for beach weddings would stay the same as they were announced in January 2024: Rs 1 lakh for the first five days and Rs 10,000 for each extra day.
The new notification on September 19, 2024, stated that the government would be imposing 10% scrutiny fees for plan revisions on all applications. In addition, new categories, like hoardings, would be subject to the scrutiny fees.
“I must acknowledge that a typographical error occurred during the notification’s typing. In actuality, there has been no increase at all, and the current prices are still in effect as of the January 2024 announcement. It was an error, and nothing has changed,” Sequeira added.
Furthermore, after approval, any parties wishing to alter their event arrangements will have to pay an extra 10% cost on top of the base fees.
In addition, the government had established a cost of Rs 1 lakh for permissions pertaining to the establishment of land-based sewage treatment plants.
