PANAJI: The North Goa Rent a Cab Association has reported an incident of a tourist being cheated by an unauthorized car rental website operating in North Goa. According to the association, the tourist was provided with a private number plate vehicle instead of a legally registered rent-a-cab, resulting in financial loss and inconvenience.
The association has formally urged the Calangute Police to investigate the matter and identify multiple suspected fake car rental websites allegedly operating without valid transport licences. It has also demanded strict action against those involved to curb illegal operations and prevent further cheating of tourists.
The association warned that such fraudulent practices not only harm tourists but also damage the reputation of Goa’s tourism sector and affect legitimate rent-a-cab operators.
