PONDA: “Goa Mining People Front (GMPF) is a non-political faction, and President Puti Gaonkar’s announcement to contest the 2022 Assembly election from Sakhalin Constituency against Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is totally his individual decision
“GMPF is a non-poltical outfit and w formed with the aim to government restart mining in Goa and it has nothing to do with Politics” this was stated to media by All Goa Machine Owners President Sandeep Parab, who is a core committee member of GMPF.
He further said GMPF will not contest the election or make a pre-poll alliance with any political outfit.
“It is not contesting the election. The GMPF President did not hold any meeting on the issue with Working Committee Members of GMPF nor held any discussion with its members. GMPF will not fall in Politics,” he said. He said nobody is contesting elections on behalf of GMPF; however, anybody can contest the election at an individual level.
He said due to the announcement of the GMPF leader, there has been a misunderstanding among the public, and therefore Puti Gaonkar should clear his stand on contesting the election.
He said the GMPF is still United and will not involve in politics.
He said that the government has filed cases against GMPF members for staging agitation in 2018 and demanded to withdraw those cases.
“Government should understand the problems of unemployed mining dependent and provide them regular job by starting mining in Goa,” he said.
He said GMPF is not contesting the upcoming election under its banner. No core committee meeting of GMPF is held to discuss contesting elections; hence GMPF leader should clear his stand on contesting the election, said Sandeep Parab.
