PANAJI: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) condemns in the strongest terms the recent violent attack on National General Secretary, Ahraz Mulla.
Mulla’s vehicle was severely damaged by unidentified assailants in an alleged premeditated attack. Despite the severity of the incident, it has come to our attention that the police investigation has been severely hampered due to the unavailability of CCTV footage from the Smart City surveillance system.
The fact that crucial evidence is missing highlights a disturbing gap in the safety infrastructure that was promised to the citizens.
“The Smart City initiative, which has purportedly invested crores of rupees into enhancing urban security, seems to have failed in providing the necessary surveillance to ensure public safety,” NSUI said in its press statement
NSUI has also demanded immediate answers from the Smart City authorities, the police department, and the Chief Minister regarding this gross mismanagement.
The investment in Smart City projects was meant to enhance security and efficiency, but recent events cast serious doubts on their effectiveness.
NSUI has also called upon the government to address these issues promptly and transparently. It is imperative that we hold those responsible accountable and ensure that our cities are genuinely safe and secure for all citizens.
“We urge the public to remain vigilant and demand better accountability and transparency from our CM in this lapse,” NSUI added
