PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today informed the house that authorities will grant OBC certificates to candidates wanting to contest the upcoming panchayat elections in a time-bound manner.
“New applicants will be granted certificate within 2 days of application while those renewing will get their certificates within a day of application,” said CM Sawant.
He further said there are issues and conflicts with samaj offices and that he cannot interfere if any caste or samaj Sangh are delaying it.
Revenue Minister Babush Monserrate said that, on an average, the OBC certificates are issued within 10 days of application.
“OBC certificates are issued within 10 days of application; I have instructed officers to issue in the minimum time possible,” said Monserrate.
Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar today expressed fear and anxiety in the minds of the people, especially the Candidates desiring to contest the upcoming Panchayat Elections, over the long delay in the issuance of OBC Certificates by the Authorities.
Amonkar said that government must ensure that the OBC Certificates to all the contesting Candidates are issued within 24 hours of application.
