ALDONA: The Opposition Congress Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira and Goa Forward MLA Vijai Sardesai today said that statement of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant reveals that the Govt had already list of house in waiting to be taken over when passing The Goa Escheats, Forfeiture & Bona Vacantia Bill.
“Statement of CM Sawant reveals that the Govt had already list of house in waiting to be taken over when passing The Goa Escheats, Forfeiture & Bona Vacantia Bill which Bill I had termed on the floor of the House as “official Land Grab”, when opposing the Bill,” said Ferreira
He further said that what benefit for Goans? A quicker route for the Government to pass on the “Portuguese houses” to their friends and crony capitalists?
Goa Forward Party (GFP) president and MLA Vijai Sardesai was very critical of the State government’s plans.
“What is the government going to do with the land taken over? They will probably give it to someone, and that is what people are opposing. The government will take over the lands and won’t protect Goa, but sell it even faster,” he alleged.
Sawant on Monday said that his government was drafting rules to finalise the legal takeover of ‘no man’s land’ parcels, something that the Opposition and legal experts have criticised as a move to usurp land that may later be claimed by legal heirs.
