PONDA: Priol MLA and Minister Govind Gaude on Saturday, without naming anyone, alleged that both his rival politicians oppose the water treatment plant, at Murdi, Khandepar, keeping an eye on the assembly election.
He said his rivals are instigating ST locals to oppose the plant, citing it would cause flooding and environmental damage.
He said the Curti Khandepar Panchayat had issued NOC for the project and later withdrawn.
He said he is ready to sit with the locals and PWD Engineers and clear their doubts on flooding and environmental issues, but no locals have come forward to discuss their problems.
“The Political parties are instigating some ST locals against the project,” he alleged.
He said the benefit of the water plant would get to Priol locals and part of Kumbarzuva, Ponda, and Part of Shiroda Constituency.
He urged them not to oppose it as it is a drinking water project.
