New Delhi: Ahmedabad turned into a vibrant hub of athletic spirit and national pride as more than 24,000 participants took part in the 9th Adani Ahmedabad Marathon at the Sabarmati Riverfront Sports Park. Held under the purpose-driven theme #Run4OurSoldiers, the event paid tribute to India’s Armed Forces, carrying added emotional weight this year in the backdrop of Operation Sindoor.
The marathon was flagged off by Pranav Adani, Director of Adani Enterprises Ltd.; Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor; Major General Gaurav Bagga; fitness ambassador Mandira Bedi; Olympic medallist Gagan Narang; Preeti Jhangiani, Vice President of the Indian Olympic Association; and celebrated designer Aaquib Wani. Indian cricketer and Gujarat Giants signee Yastika Bhatia also graced the occasion.
More than 4,000 personnel from the military and police forces joined the run, underscoring the marathon’s message of respect and solidarity with those who serve the nation.
Participants competed across the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10 km, and 5 km categories along a scenic route highlighting Ahmedabad’s iconic landmarks, including Gandhi Ashram, Atal Bridge, and Ellis Bridge. The specially designed official marathon jersey by Aaquib Wani reflected the event’s spirit and its heartfelt tribute to soldiers.
With a prize pool of over ₹40 lakh, winners were awarded across competitive and age-group categories. The event is recognised by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) and is listed on the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) global registry—an endorsement of its course accuracy, standards, and event quality. Over the years, the Adani Ahmedabad Marathon has grown to become one of India’s most respected distance-running events.
Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor said the sight of thousands running alongside 4,000 personnel was “profoundly heartening”, adding that the turnout reflected the unity and positive spirit driving the nation forward.
He praised the event as a strong message of support for the Armed Forces, applauding the remarkable enthusiasm of participants and the picturesque setting of the Sabarmati Riverfront.
Adani Sportsline expressed gratitude to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Ahmedabad Police and Traffic Police, 108 Emergency Services, and KD Hospital for their support and coordination in ensuring a safe and successful event.
