BICHOLIM: The farmers from Sal in Bicholim have expressed displeasure over the apathy of the administration towards a nullah running through the village which inundates the farms every year.
The nullah which gets flooded every year is being ignored by the authorities for last several years which results in loss to the nearby fields.
The villagers claim that earlier there was a tender worth Rs 5 lakh to clean the nullaha but the contractor only trimmed the plants and nothing much was done.
“This nullaha which passes through our fields is ignored by all. Every year during monsoon the rain water along with the water from the Tillari dam inundates the fields.
Both the sides of the nullaha gets eroded and along with water all the dump and wooden blocks that come flowing enter our fields”, Darshan Parab from Sal told.
The villagers have demanded retaining wall along both the sides and also disilting of the nullaha on urgent basis.
“We demand disilting of the entire nullaha and where there are fields there should be retaining wall.” Chandan Parab told.
