PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that Goa police will now conduct surprise checks on verifying tenant verification.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant was addressing the media after chairing the cabinet meeting.
“Henceforth police will go and check for verification certificates, whether it is there or not, if the police verification certificate is not found then the owner will be fined from 1k to 10k depending on how long the tenant is residing and where he belongs to, based on the criteria,” said Sawant.
He further said that if the tenant commits any crime and there’s no police verification done then the owner will be caught in the inquiry.
“It has been made compulsory. Therefore, house owners must fill out tenant verification forms and submit them to the respective police stations,” he added.
The CM added that all police personnel who have been posted in one location for three or more years will be transferred.
“The transfer order process will commence within the next three to four days. All police personnel, including constables, PIs, PSIs, and up to DySP level, will be rotated from police to traffic to coastal police,” he said.
Pointing out that some police personnel have become settled in their current postings, he said the government will not bow to any pressure in this matter.
Sawant also mentioned that it will be mandatory for police inspectors to reside in the vicinity of the police station where they are posted so that they are available at all times when needed.
