PONDA: Despite the Curti-Khandepar Panchayat revoking the NOC for STP two years ago, the fresh digging for the sewerage network continues, which has puzzled the locals.
Social worker Viraj Sapre.Says Sarpanch Naved Tehsildar claims Panchayat had not given NOC for STP, but at least six places roads are dug negligently,
The locals, in recent gram sabha on Oct 30, had said they had opposed Sewerage Treatment Plant at Curti. Still, despite this, work on the sewerage network is progressing haphazardly, causing roadblocks and hardships for locals.
Locals said they would oppose STP in the Curti area tooth and nail and that Panchayat and Sewerage Department should not keep them in the dark about the sewerage plant.
Meanwhile, Curti Khandepar locals complained about dust pollution as sewerage chambers are dug without proper planning and providing alternative roads.
“No water is sprayed on roads before digging work due to which dust pollution is caused in housing Board colony Curti. Most of the streets are blocked for work,” locals said.
Viraj Sapre said huge chambers are dug negligently.
With the Zatra at the Sateri Temple currently going on and the sewerage department needs to take proper care of the safety of the people.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the sewerage department challenged the decision of the Panchayat to revoke NOC and that they got permission from the Director of Panchayat.
