CANACONA: Psychologist Ketaki Parob advised parents not to be overprotective and not to compare their children with others, and instead respect individual differences but as parents share the responsibilities of parenting together.
The psychologist, Smt. Ketaki Parob was speaking on the ‘Role of parents in the upbringing of the child’ at a Parents Get-together (Palak Melava) organised by Shradhanand Dnyanprasarak Mandal in the school Shree Shradhanand Vidyalaya premises on Sunday.
Earlier, SDM Vice-Chairman Dr. Santosh Vernekar welcomed followed by the lighting of the traditional lamp.
Dr Sumod Khedekar briefed the audience on ‘Paediatric Ayurveda’, while Adv. Akshata Puranik Bhat enlightened the parents on the POCSO Act. She listed the types of sexual offences against children. Elaborating on the punishments for such offences, Puranik Bhat urged the parents to train their sons and daughters not to indulge in eve-teasing, bullying, etc.
All the resource faculty put forth a detailed PowerPoint presentation on their topics. This was followed by a Q&A session for the parents.
The guests on the dais were keynote speakers -Psychologist Smt. Ketaki Parob, Ayurveda Consultant Dr. Sumod Khedekar and Adv. Akshata Puranik Bhat, along with the PTA Chairman’s of Shradhanand Vidyalaya, Shradhanand Primary School, Painginim, Shradhanand Primary School Galgibaga and Shraddhanand Shishuvatika.
Headmistress Sima Prabhugaonkar, School Manager – Kamlakar Mhalshi, SDM Vice-Chairman Dr. Santosh Vernekar and SDM Treasurer- Manohar Tengse.
In the post-lunch session full activities were conducted for the parents with games and talent shows by the parents with on-the-spot performances, some mind games, spot prizes, etc. were held under the leadership of teacher Tanvi Naik assisted by other teaching faculty.
Primary teacher, Sampada Prabhudessai hosted the event while SDM Vice-Chairman Dr. Santosh Vernekar proposed the Vote of thanks.
