CANACONA: In a late evening incident, an unoccupied and parked car from Bangalore (Karnataka) rolled down from the stationery (parked) location of a selfie-point and went up in flames before hitting rocks in the ravines below near Khola Beach in Canacona.
According to police, some Telangana Youths living in Bangalore had come to see Goa in a KWID Car bearing registration number KA03 NR2421 and had come to watch the Sunset at Khola Beach.
The Car was parked at a location well known as Selfie-Point nearby to Khola Beach.
Around the location, the youngsters were busy taking pictures and selfies at the picturesque venue as the parked Car suddenly got into motion and began to roll down the cliff. None could do anything as the Car got into motion and plunged head down into the ravines (virtually from a cliff) continued to roll down with force and came to a halt after hitting a rock.
As the onlookers looked on helplessly, the Car suddenly got into flames, and a huge fire engulfed the car.
The Car went down some 20 metres below and kept on burning before Fire Services reached and completely extinguished the fire. The KWID car was almost reduced to burnt trash.
The incident took place on Sunday evening as police and fire brigade personnel were informed and rushed to the sport.
Canacona Police informed that no one was injured in the fire inferno as the car was unoccupied and the unattended car rolled down by itself.
“All the tourists, mostly youngsters, the natives of Telangana, but living in and coming from Bangalore during the Goa tour are safe’.
According to sources, some locals who saw the fireball, initially thought some film shooting was going on as the location is a picturesque and sight-seeing film spot, and after sometime, saw Fire-Tenders rushing to the areas.
Incidentally, Khola coasts, especially a few beach coves have become very famous and tourists flock to the various sites in Khola village to enjoy the natural beauty of these unique spots.
