CANACONA: The Canacona Health Officer itself demanding upgradation of the Health Services in Canacona has opened a separate and dedicated Pediatric Ward at the Community Health Centre (CHC) following demands put forth by Jawahar Bal Manch (JBM) and Canacona Congress, recently.
Responding to the list of demands put forth in a memorandum by the JBM and Canacona Congress, CHC Health Officer Dr. Jose Tavares in a written response informed that a Separate Pediatric ward is already done and children are shifted from the Female Ward to the newly formed pediatric Ward.
As regards to posting of a regular Pediatrician, request to the DHS is renewed to recruit or depute a Pediatrician on regular basis at CHC Canacona. Presently, Pediatrician is deputed from South Goa District Hospital once a week on Wednesday.
Dr. Tavares further informed that that the pharmacy at the CHC will be open from 9 am to 4 pm without any lunch break.
Agreeing to the demand raised by people of Canacona that due to increase in flow of patients and increase in accident cases, Health Officer too felt the need for upgradation of current facilities at the CHC.
Health officer requested to the Directorate of Health Services to deploy additional X-Ray Technicians called so as to provide X-Ray facilities 24 x 7, a demand put forth by Canacona residents., besides also renewed the request with the DHS to post/depute Radiologist on Regular/Once a week at CHC Canacona. It is learnt that no Radiologist have joined at CHC inpsite of DHS order posting a Radiologist.
Stating Laboratory is functioning with two technicians from 8.30 am to 4. 00pm, a demand for upgradation of the CHC Laboratory is submitted to the DHS on the locals demand of upgradation of Diagnosis section.
CHC has again written to DHS to allotte a Bike/Pilot Ambulance to facilitate emergency services in remote areas of Canacona.
