PERNEM: The verification of non-Goan tenants staying at Pernem has been decided by Pernem MLA and police officers in light of the recent murder case of a taxi driver in Dhargal.
In order for the police to apprehend the accused in the event that a future incident involves a non-Goan, the owner must submit a form detailing all the details of the tenant who is non-Goan. This is being done to protect the lives of the Goan public from being intimidated by a non-Goan.
“Every waddo in Pernem will require police verification in order to prevent such tragic events in the future. The landlord is responsible for ensuring that the police station receives the tenant’s information. I kindly ask everyone to assist the police and the panchayat by providing the tenant information. Pravin Arlekar, MLA for Pernem
The MLA went on to say that by giving the police authorities access to the tenant’s personal information, non-Goan tenants are also made aware of the situation and are likely to exercise caution going forward to avoid making any mistakes. It will be much simpler for the police to apprehend the offenders if such incidents occur in the future.
DySP Jivba Dalvi further elaborated on this topic by highlighting the significance and results of these tenant verification cards. According to him, criminals from other states enter Goa and remain there by disguising themselves as regular residents.
The owner of the house lets them remain as tenants without knowing anything about their past. Police forces from other states have occasionally traveled to Goa in an attempt to apprehend these offenders. Thus, it will be simple for us and the owners to learn about the tenant’s past by creating this card.
