PANAJI: Town And Country Planning Minister Vishwajit Rane has announced that the Pernem Zoning plan would be scrapped immediately following agitation and demands of Pernekars.
In a recorded video released to emdia, Rane says the Pernem zoning plan has no value as of today.
“You call it in abeyance or scrapped, the plan has no value. This government is of the peopel and will always look into the interests of the people,” he said.
He said that some people are trying to misguide the people.
“Some people are misguiding the people for vested interest. For decades now the people of Pernem have been suffering as their houses and lands are not shown in settlement zones. We wanted to do you but…,” he said.
Rane said the plan will be denotified as demanded by people.
“The plan has no value and it would be denotified very soon. The plan was drawn keeping in mind the development required for Pernem in view of Mopa airport, the new AYUSH hospital and other development prokjects, he said.
Earleir this week, Rane had announced that the plan was kept in abeyance following a massive protest by locals and local MLA Jit Arolkar.
The village panchayats in Pernem backed by Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar are now holding respective village level awareness meetings to demand denotification of the draft zoning plan, which has been kept in abeyance by the government.
