PANAJI: A police constable attached to Panaji Traffic Cell & another lady constable from Old Goa police station, were suspended from the service on Friday evening, after a video went viral of the male constable assaulting his wife in a busy Guirim road.
Rochan Martin and Shobha Chavan were suspended from the duty pending departmental inquiry against the duo.
However, a day later, Chavan has filed a counter complaint against Martin’s wife Benedita alias Tina and her brother for assaulting her in public.
High drama prevailed in the middle of the road at Guirim as the Panaji traffic constable’s wife caught him allegedly in a compromising position with the lady constable.
In a video that has now gone viral, the male constable who was partially unclothed was with his female colleague in the car when his wife caught them. The constable was then seen assaulting his wife by the road side.
A police complaint was filed against him at Mapusa police station who registered a non cognisable complaint against him.
However, in a counter complaint filed today, Chavan has claimed that she and male constable were eating Bhelpuri at a roadside stall and meanwhile Benedita and his brother appeared at the spot and further Benedita got hold of her hair and pulled it.
Further, as per complaint, the brother of Benedita who was present at the spot tore her clothes so also the inner clothes.
Sh claimed that Benedita and her brother started assaulting her and Benedita hit her nose and abused her with filthy words.
