PONDA: Since the year began, Ponda traffic police have filed 21,438 cases against offenders and collected Rs 1.24 crores in fines.
The Assistant Director of Transport (ADT) has received 2,748 cases from the police requesting the suspension of driver’s licenses. The suspension will last at least three months. According to traffic police inspector Krishna Sinari, 958 offenders were among those discovered riding without helmets, as reported by “The Navhind Times.”
Overspeeding, using a phone while operating a vehicle, driving while intoxicated, and transporting a person in a goods carrier are additional infractions.
Along with these, police reported 3,029 no-entry infractions, 2,294 tinted glass infractions, 2,656 lane-cutting infractions, 1,937 unsafe parking infractions, 1,740 overspeeding infractions, 1,692 incorrect bike number plates, and 146 drunk driving incidents.
According to the new Motor Vehicle Act regulations, the majority of these offenders face minimum fines of Rs 1,000, while some face fines exceeding Rs 10,000, according to Sinari.
