PANI: The head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, is set to visit India “sooner than expected,” according to Goa minister Mauvin Godinho.
Godinho recalled that Pope Francis had been invited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit India, and that Goa would undoubtedly be on his itinerary.
As you may remember, Pope Francis was invited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now, I believe it is certain that he would travel to India earlier than anticipated,” Godinho stated.
In June of this year, PM Modi extended an invitation to Pope Francis to come to India during the G7 Summit’s Outreach session in Apulia, southern Italy.
Godinho claimed that Cardinal Luis Tagle of the Vatican said he will inform Pope Francis about the successful hosting of the exposition after observing the preparations for the decennial exposition of St. Xavier’s relics.
“This will encourage him to come to our country and send a message to him,” he said.
“I am confident that our prime minister will make it happen, and we are all excitedly anticipating that Goa will be on the Pope’s itinerary if he visits India,” he continued.
