PANAJI: Madganvcho Awaaz youth leader Prabhav Naik has demanded the immediate cancellation of the ongoing direct recruitment process initiated by the Goa Legislature Secretariat, contending that all vacancies should instead be filled through established recruitment agencies such as the Goa Staff Selection Commission (GSSC) and the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC).
In a representation submitted to the Secretary of the Goa Legislature Secretariat, Naik sought the withdrawal of recruitment advertisements bearing Nos. LA/Admn./2026/562, LA/Admn./2026/563 and LA/Admn./2026/564 dated June 1, 2026. The advertisements invite applications for various posts, including Under Secretary, Section Officer, Reporter, Public Relations Officer, Stenographer Grade-II, Driver and Multi-Tasking Staff.
Naik stated that Goa already has independent recruitment bodies in the form of the GSSC and GPSC, which were established to ensure transparency, merit-based selection and uniform recruitment procedures across government departments. According to him, these institutions play a vital role in maintaining public confidence in the recruitment process.
Expressing concern over the Legislature Secretariat’s decision to undertake direct recruitment, Naik argued that vacancies falling under the jurisdiction of the GSSC should be referred to the Commission, while higher-level posts should be filled through the GPSC in accordance with established norms and practices.
He further pointed out that the issue assumes significance in light of the recent praise received by the GSSC for conducting transparent recruitment processes during the Goa Statehood Day celebrations. Bypassing the established mechanism, he said, sends a contradictory message and raises concerns among unemployed youth seeking equal opportunities in government employment.
Calling for immediate corrective measures, Naik urged the Legislature Secretariat to scrap the current recruitment process and refer all vacancies to the GSSC and GPSC. He maintained that such a move would uphold transparency, fairness and public confidence while ensuring that deserving candidates are selected through an independent and credible recruitment system.
