Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s sudden hospitalization on Sunday highlighted the swift and coordinated response from India’s top leadership. Dhankhar, 73, was admitted to AIIMS after complaining of chest pain and uneasiness. His condition prompted Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit him at the hospital, where he expressed his wishes for a speedy recovery. In a public message, Modi stated, “Went to AIIMS and enquired about the health of Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji. I pray for his good health and speedy recovery.”
Union Health Minister JP Nadda also visited AIIMS to check on Dhankhar’s condition, further emphasizing the government’s concern for his health. Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu reached out to Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar, the Vice President’s wife, to inquire about his well-being. She was relieved to learn that he was recovering and extended her best wishes for his speedy recovery.
Currently, Dhankhar is stable and under observation at AIIMS. However, it is unlikely that he will be able to preside over the house in the immediate future. This situation reflects not only the personal concern of India’s leaders but also the broader implications for national governance.
