Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh):
Maha Kumbh 2025: A Blend of Tradition, Technology, and Safety in Prayagraj
As the Maha Kumbh 2025 prepares to welcome over 40 crore devotees to Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26, the city is abuzz with extensive preparations that blend ancient traditions with cutting-edge technology and robust safety measures. This grand event, marking its return after a 12-year hiatus, promises to be a spiritually enriching and technologically advanced experience.
Advanced Fire Safety and Technological Innovations
To ensure a safe and secure pilgrimage, the district administration has implemented a range of advanced fire safety measures. New fire stations have been established, and over 365 specialized vehicles, including Quick Response Vehicles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), firefighting robots, and fire mist bikes, have been deployed. These vehicles are equipped to handle various types of terrain and emergencies, significantly enhancing the response time to fire incidents.
Firefighting boats, set to be deployed along the ghats, will utilize river water to douse fires in tents, restaurants, and houseboats. These boats, equipped with remote-controlled firefighting robots, are particularly effective in navigating rivers quickly and conducting precise fire suppression operations, even in extreme temperature zones or situations involving explosive materials.
Comprehensive Awareness and Training
ADG Fire Padmaja Chauhan is spearheading the fire safety efforts, emphasizing the importance of awareness campaigns and mock drills. Teams have been assigned to check the wiring status of over 10,000 tents to prevent short circuits, a common cause of fire incidents. Additionally, officials will conduct regular checks in pandals and tents, educating seers, saints, and devotees on how to handle fire incidents without panic. The focus is on safe and secure wiring, and an appeal has been made to avoid preparing meals inside the camps.
Digital Ticketing and Crowd Management
In a significant digital leap, the Prayagraj division of North Central Railway has introduced a QR code-based ticketing system. Railway personnel, easily identifiable by their green jackets featuring QR codes, will assist pilgrims at railway stations and other key locations. By scanning these QR codes, pilgrims can download the Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) app, enabling them to book tickets seamlessly without the hassle of long queues. This initiative aligns with the Digital India vision, promising a hassle-free and efficient experience for the millions of attendees.
Key Rituals and Event Highlights
The Maha Kumbh 2025 will feature several key rituals, including the Shahi Snan (royal baths) on January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), and February 3 (Basant Panchami). These rituals, along with the Ganga Aarti at the Triveni Sangam, will be meticulously rehearsed to ensure a smooth and spiritually enriching experience for all devotees.
