PANAJI: Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte today said that starting next year, the department will revisit and re-look at the prize money of the state cultural festivals.
“Starting next year, the department will revisit and re-look at the prize money of the state cultural festivals. Some prizes given over the last many years need to be re-looked,” said Khaunte.
He further said that the first prize in cities is pegged at Rs 60,000, while in minor towns, it’s Rs 45,000 as the artists put in a massive effort.
“From next year, we will revisit the prizes and discuss the required infrastructure,” he added.
Khaunte also announced the stigma festival dates starting from March 8.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte announced the schedule for Shigmotsav 2023, i.e. 8th March Ponda, 9th March Calangute, 10th March Sanquelim / Bicholim, 11th March Panjim, 12th March Porvorim, 13th March Mapusa, March 14 Valpoi/ Pernem, 15th March Sanguem and March 16 Curchorem / Quepem.
Further, Shigmo will be held from March 17 in Vasco, 17th March Vasco, 18th March Margao,19th March Shiroda / Dharbandora, 20th March Kuncolim and March 21 in Canacona.
“The music at the parade will wind up by 10 pm as per the norms set by the High Court of Bombay at Goa. The timing will be strictly monitored,” he added.
