MARGAO: Protestors sitting outside Margao Municipality demanded justice in the matter of change of zone at Sonsodo, Kabrastan.
They demanded reverting of zone and allotment for the Kabrastan.
There has been an injustice happened in the matter of allotted land for the Kabrastan at Sonsodo claim some of the protestors who are expecting that justice will prevail in this matter.
Over eight days have passed that some protestors are sitting outside the Margao municipality, highlighting the issue that a big blunder has taken place wherein an allotment plot for the Kabrastan at Sonsodo area has seen the change of zone.
Mahesh Amonkar, Margao Municipal Councillor who is seen sitting in protest about this matter, informed that initially, the land was allotted for Kabrastan, but later the former TCP minister changed the zone of the allotted land.
Amonkar said that he condemns such an act of changing the zone of Kabrastan at the Sonsodo area.
He also opposed the proposed project, which is likely to come up at the site, initially identified for the Kabrastan. He said there should be a re-change of the zone and the land be allotted again for the Kabrastan.
Another protestor, Muslim community leader, Riyaz Sheikh, said that injustice has been done on the local Muslim community as they were kept in the dark about the zone change, which was totally unfair.
Sheikh further pointed out that when the authorities were willing to give us a place as a Kabrastan at Khareband area, they should have first made it operational and then changed the zone of the area at Sonsodo.
But unfortunately, now we don’t have a Kabrastan at Khareband nor in Sonsodo. Therefore we demand to re-change the zone of the area at Sonosodo which was identified before for Kabrastan and given back to us.
