PANAJI: Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies have assured consumers that adequate stocks of petrol, diesel and LPG are available across Goa and the rest of the country despite a recent surge in fuel demand.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies — Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited — said operations and logistics coordination are continuing across the country to ensure uninterrupted supply of petroleum products.
According to data shared by the companies, Goa recorded a 7.62 per cent increase in petrol sales and a 10.07 per cent rise in diesel sales between May 1 and May 24 compared to the same period last year.
The companies stated that the increased demand has been driven by seasonal factors in agricultural regions as well as additional purchases by institutional and commercial consumers shifting to PSU retail outlets due to price differences with private suppliers.
The oil companies urged citizens to avoid panic buying and continue normal purchasing behaviour, assuring that all necessary steps are being taken to maintain smooth and uninterrupted supplies.
Consumers were also advised to rely only on official communications issued by authorised agencies and Oil Marketing Companies for accurate information regarding fuel availability.
The statement was issued by Madhurendra K Pandey, State Level Coordinator of OMCs in Goa.
