CANACONA: PWD Canacona have taken up to manually fill-up the potholes and washed out the section, besides partially paying attention to the road-sides (shoulders) badly damaged due to laying on-going Power-cabling works in the Agonda area.
According to sources, supervised by an engineer from Canacona PWD a couple of days ago, some workers were seen rounding up certain road portions with potholes and damages painting it white with a brush.
The exercise was taken 3 days ago to carry out a patch –work on the damaged roads. Locals however, complained that many portholes of badly damaged portions on the road are left out.
On Tuesday instead of Jet-patcher, a workers team equipped with dusting pump, Road-Roller and a tipper –carrying premixed Tar began to fill up the marked road portions leaving larger chunks of the road open, and particularly, the road shoulder which are completely damaged by contractor laying the cable underground, are threateningly kept dangerously open.
According to sources part of the MDR-49 from nearby to Sawantwada-Voile-Agonda area were partly patched up, but the road side-shoulders continue to threaten motorists playing on the road.
Covering some porthole opto Panna area, the church road was taken up again covering some patches but also equally leaving more threatening patches open.
Different teams first clean up the damaged area with sweeper and dusting pumps, another team with spraying with wet tar, a third team pouring down pre-mixed tar, and then the road roller is used to level the patched part.
Locals raising concerns of partial repair, were eager to know when the entire roads which are damaged on one side due to digging for laying power cables will be repaired or not.
When asked a PWD supervisor informed Jet-patcher is provided only during rains, and now the road repairs which are earlier marked by engineers only are taken up for filling and levelling.
