VASCO: Vasco MLA Krishna Daji Salkar, along with Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to raise concerns over long-pending medical bills and inadequate healthcare facilities faced by beneficiaries of the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) in Goa.
The issue was initially highlighted by the United Veterans Association, which flagged serious shortcomings in ECHS services that have been affecting ex-servicemen and their families across the state.
During the function held at Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), the Defence Minister acknowledged the concerns and assured that the matter would be taken up on priority.
He said necessary steps would be initiated to normalise ECHS services in Goa at the earliest.
The assurance has brought relief to ex-servicemen, with state leaders expressing confidence that the long-standing issues related to medical reimbursements and access to healthcare facilities will now be addressed promptly.
