CANACONA- Students should not loose their interest in reading, but cultivate the habit of reading books and more so those books that will support them throughout the life., advised Ajit Poinguinkar.
Poinguinkar a known and veteran journalist was speaking as the keynote at the parents felicitation function organized on the occasion of ‘Sangam Festival’ by Shri Mallikarjuna and Chetan Manju Desai College, Delem, Canacona.
‘Today’s children have started to lose their emotions, and moral values seem to be on the decline’, Poinguinkar said, further advising parents to teach their children how and to what extent mobile phones should be used and utilized.
On this occasion, the President of the Dhyna Promodini Society Chairman Chetan Desai, Treasurer Rajendra Desai, Secretary Manjunath Desai, Principal Dr. Sucheta Naik, Parent-Teacher Association President Swarupa Desai, Treasurer Datta Komarpant, Secretary Abhay Dhuri and Tanuja Phaldesai were present.
Sangam Mahotsav is a festival to bring together parents, students, teachers and administrators.
Ajit Painginkar also expressed the opinion that a good step has been taken by honoring the parents of the students who have made the name of Shri Mallikarjuna and Chetan Manju Desai College bright while immensely contributing in sports and other fields.
On this occasion, the students and their parents who have achieved success in the field of sports and other fields from this college were felicitated with prizes by the chief guests.
At the beginning, the principal Dr. Sucheta Naik welcomed. Swarupa Desai introduced the guests. Tanuja Phaldesai presented a report on the work of Parent-Teacher Association. Chairman Chetan Desai expressed his thoughts. Savio Leitao and Snehal Gaonkar moderated the program. Datta Komarpant proposed the vote of thanks at the end.
A special market day and other activities were organized during this two-day Sangam festival.
