PANAJI: the State government has shut all the dispensaries at the ESI COVID19 hospitals and the ESI beneficiaries have to now visit the primary health centre in case of any emergencies.
The order issued by Additional Secretary Health says “Government had designated ESI Hospital, Margao as dedicated “COVID-19 Hospital, Margao” vide Order No.23/20/2014 I/PHD/Part IV/690 dated 08/04/2020, which stands continued to be a dedicated “COVID-19 Hospital, Margao” vide Order No.23/20/2014 1/PHD/Part IV/884 dated 23/04/2021. Considering the surge in COVID-19 cases in the State of Goa and to put infrastructure and manpower in place in order to cope up with the increased cases, the manpower is indispensable”.
It further says that in terms of section 2(1) of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, Government hereby directs that all the Dispensaries under E.S.I shall be non-operational/shut down with immediate effect.
“The beneficiaries shall avail the necessary services in the nearest Primary Health Centre/Urban Health Centre/Community Health Centre. Consequent to which, all the Doctors including para medial, non-medical staff etc. shall report to the Dean, Goa Medical College, Bambolim-Goa for further deployment in the COVID Hospitals. This is for strict compliance and any deviation from the same shall be,” Vikas S. N. Gaunekar, Additional Secretary (Health) says in the order.
