PANAJI: The Directorate of Art & Culture organized a State level Matoli competition for household individuals during the Ganesh Chaturthi Festival in Goa.
The department every year organizes this contest to preserve and promoting the age-old tradition of the Matoli decoration. This year overall 13 households from all over Goa participated in the competition.
The winners of the State Level Matoli Competition 2024 have been declared. The top prize of ₹20,000 was awarded to Shri Datta Shambu Naik from Gauthon, Priol, Ponda. Shri Tanaji K. Gawde from Talule, Bandora, Ponda won the second prize of ₹15,000, while the third prize of ₹12,000 was claimed by Shri Devu Satyawan Shetkar from Pilliem, Dharbandora. The fourth prize of ₹10,000 was awarded to Trupti Palkar & Family from Bondyewada, Savoiverem, Ponda, and the fifth prize of ₹8,000 went to Shri Srikant P. Satarkar from Rait, Kopawada, Curti, Ponda.
The winners of 5 consolation prizes of Rs. 5,000/- each are Shri Vishant Vasant Gaude, Kelbai, Curti, Ponda – Goa., Shri.Ranganath G. Gaonkar, Vaiginem, Mayem, Bicholim, Shri Ramakant Duklo Gaonkar Gothawada, Betoda, Ponda, Shri Shivaji R. Ozarkar, Bambar Nanoda, Sattari, Shri Vithoba Gawde, Gothan, Veling, Ponda
The State level Matoli competition was judged by Shri Rajendra P. Kerkar, Shri Gopinath Gawas and Shri Deepak Gad.
The Winners of the Matoli competition will be awarded certificates and cash prizes at a special function to be organized by the Directorate of Art & Culture which will be informed to the winners well in advance.
