PANAJI: The Goa State Labour Welfare Board has made the decision to modify the support programme for laid-off workers.
Babush Monserrate, the minister of labour and employment, presided over the 47th meeting of the Goa Labour Welfare Board at Porvorim.
During the meeting, many welfare programs, including skill development and first aid training, were considered for their future development. It was determined that they should be forwarded to the Board’s subcommittee for discussion.
The members discussed the Retrenched Workers Assistance Scheme and sought to bring additional changes to it for the benefit of workers.
Among other things, it was also decided to ensure that the Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1986 is adhered to strictly.
Commissioner for Labour and Employment and Secretary of Goa Labour Welfare Board, Levinson Martins was present.
