CANACONA: RGP on a campaigning trail in Canacona, caught Electricity Department’s working party red-handed while illegally tapping power from an 11KV alignment on Agonda road.
The electricity Department contractor Diksha Enterprises is laying an 11 KV Underground Cable to the sub-stations of Agonda and Khola from Canacona Power Station at Char-Rasta and the digging excavation and laying of cable and closure of trenches are going on the Canacona – Agonda road for the past two weeks with the help of a JCB and other cable pulling machinery.
RGP team who are on a campaigning trail of Canacona were on an hour-to-house canvassing tour for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
While the team led by RGP General Secretary Vishvesh Naik headed toward Agonda saw someone openly and dangerously attempting to tap electricity from an open overhead electricity alignment passing across the road, as the trench excavation is also going on at the same road at a distance.
Naik stopped his car at Agonda Road and began to question the working party, who informed him they were as usual tapping power from the 11 kV alignment to operate a cable-pulling machinery to lay the 11 kV Electricity cable in the excavated trenches.
Naik was heard asking why such works are undertaken haphazardly and without any type of safety. ‘What if somebody gets bad current through the High Tension line? Who will be responsible for it? Why don’t you bring a fuel-operated Generator to run your machinery, is it for cost-cutting to earn more profits you are risking life, who is the contractor’ Naik was heard asking the supervisor at the site.
The working party further informed that the underground power cabling is undertaken by Sanji Singh from Rajasthan under his Goa registered firm M/s Diksha Enterprises for the Goa Electricity Department.
Meanwhile, RGP Lok Sabha Candidate Rubert Pereira completed his door-to-door campaigning in Agonda. Pereira claimed a stupendous response from Agonda village, and his next village is now in Gaodongrim.
Interestingly, the Revolutionary Goans Party Lok Sabha candidate with his group of youths launched a whirlwind door-to-door campaign in Agonda, now almost a week ago, and visited every household, passing a pamphlet written in both English and Konkani giving a 9-point manifesto including mhadei river issue, Coal Hub matter, Dual citizenship cause, ST’s constitutional rights amongst others. While handing over the manifesto, revolutionaries were politely requested to support and vote for RGP and also spread the word with others.
