CANACONA: Key Developmental projects including the beautification and a long-due new fish market in Canacona municipal areas costing over 15 crores of rupees were discussed and priorities were set at a meeting held recently with the GSIDC and GSUDA officials at Canacona.
Canacona MLA & Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar had discussions with GSIDC officials, the Canacona Municipal Chairperson, and Councillors on the beautification along the road from Charasta- Xeller, Char-Rasta –Devabag-Palolem, Chaudi-Pansulem and a few other places. The plans for the long overdue new fish –market and the nearing completion of the new municipal building were also discussed with the GSUDA and other officials.
Tawadkar especially asked the officials of GSIDC for the blueprint of the beautification of the various municipal streets including the NH-66 stretch passing from Char-Rasta-Chaudi-Sheller as well as the beautifications along the road from Chaudi to Ponsulem, Char-Rasta to Devabhag and Palolem to be constructed including the drains and railings, at a cost of around 11 crores of rupees.
GSUDA in all probability will hold the foundation stone laying ceremony for a new fish market in January at a cost of more than 3 crore of rupees.
It is also discussed and GSUDA informed that the new municipal building will in all probability be completed by the coming January and the inauguration will be held soon after.
It was also discussed to erect a shade at the old bus stand Chaudi where the Sarvajanik Ganesh idol is worshipped during Ganeshotsav festivals and a Crib is set up during Christmas Week.
In a meeting held at the Government Rest House at Shristhal, CMC Chairperson Sara Naik Desai, Vice-Chairperson Gandesh Madgaonkar, Councilors Amita Pagi, Hemant Naikgaunkar, Laxuman Pagi, Narcisco (Nadin) Fernandes, Canacona Vision-2030 Coordinator and Speaker’s Personal Secretary Siddharth Desai were present. GSIDC officers/officials including Senior Project Officer Reshma Kamat, Engineer Tanmay Mahajan, GSUDA Senior Project Officer Marcia and Consultant Datta Kare were present in this meeting.
