VASCO: Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar on Tuesday said that Urban development minister Vishwajit Rane had been a blessing for Vasco.
Salkar was speaking to reporters after launching the works of about Rs 20 lakhs in Belabai in the presence of Mormugao Municipal Chairperson Leo Rodrigues, ward councillor Girish Borker and other residents.
“We are blessed to have Vishwajit Rane as the Urban Development minister as he has sanctioned the smallest to smallest and biggest development works in Vasco. Development works are going at full pace, and today we are launching works of Pavers, drainage and footpath through municipal funds at Belabai and Uddi. Vishwajeet Rane has never said no to us every time that we approached him, and in fact, we are laying the foundation of two mega projects of the fish market and Baina Power House, worth 17 crores, today evening. We have ensured that works are being taken in all 25 wards of MMC immaterial of ruling and opposition,” said Salkar
Ward councillor.
Ward councillor Girish Borker said that the works on laying pavers, drainage and footpath, besides modification of steps, had been pending for over 40 years.
“We have seen that these works may be small, but it holds great value in my ward because it is of great importance to locals of this area. We are laying pavers across two locations of Belabai and Uddi at the cost of Rs 20 lakhs. Besides putting in Pavers, we are also getting the drainage done and modifying the steps by putting in anti-skid tiles. Besides this, another main work is to get a Sewerage connection in this area, and that is our top priority,” he said.
Some people asked MLA Krishna Salkar for this assurance during his elections, and it was finally fulfilled.
“During the last tenure, my wife was the Councillor here, and we carried out works of Rs 1 crore, and these works were almost finalised, but then the pandemic came in, and we could not carry out this work, and even the money under 14th finance went back,” he said.
Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar has now followed up on this work with the DMA, and finally this work is being taken up, and we will now see never-before transformation and never-before development works in this ward,” said Borker.
