PERNEM: In a significant development, Pernem police have arrested Samir Korgaonkar in connection with the alleged assault of a minor girl.
The accused was apprehended in the village of Bhedshi, located in the Pernem taluka of Goa.
Pernem Police had lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against Samir Korgaonkar following allegations that he assaulted a minor girl.
The case is being investigated under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Goa Children’s Act, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The complaint involves serious accusations of violence against a minor belonging to a marginalized community, prompting immediate action by local authorities.
A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) had been assigned to lead the investigation to ensure it is conducted with care and integrity.
Officials have stated that all applicable laws concerning child protection and the rights of marginalized groups are being fully enforced as the investigation progresses.
