PONDA: Marcaim Nagrik Kruti Samiti President Premanand Gaude, Prashant Chari and other members expressed unhappiness over Marcaim Panchayat Office accepting gifts from one steel company instead of action against for illegalities since past several years.
Premanand Gaude said from this, it appears that Panchayat supports illegalities.
“It appears our Panchayat is sold to this company,” said another member of Nagrik Samiti.
Premanand Gaude said Panchayat had accepted gifts from the said steel company.
“The company is illegally dumping hazardous waste in an open area and also illegally constructed around 90 rooms for the accommodation of labourers, which said should have been demolished,” he said.
Gaude said he would raise this issue in Marcaim Panchayat Gramsabha. He said following complaints, the company has assured to clear the waste by May but failed to do so.
He showed the document of Marcaim Panchayat wherein Sarpanch thanked and appreciated the steel company Manager on behalf of Village Panchayat Marcaim for providing a cupboard and steel shelf.
The letter by Sarpanch further read that “I would also like to appreciate your response to our request to provide with office material that was required by the office and shall be of a great cause to improve our office infrastructure and the office is highly obliged towards the generosity of the company.”
Premanand Gaude said the secretary confirmed to him about receiving a cupboard and shelf from the steel company.
When contacted the secretary of Marcaim Panchayat on the issue, he refused to comment.
