CANACONA: The 28-year-old lad who had miraculously escaped the suicide attempt he made by jumping from a bridge two days ago, ended up successful on his second attempt and succumbed to hanging to the rafter in his own house.
According to sources, Sarvesh Pednekar, 28 a resident of Shristhal committed suicide by hanging in his house at about 7 pm on Friday evening.
Police informed that Sarvesh, residing at Parekoto-Shristhal was brought dead at Hospital (CHC) by family members and neighbours as a caser of Suicidal handling at residence.
Uday Pednekar, father of the youth informed police that his son committed suicide by hanging to the rater in the bedroom of his house by using nylon rope as a ligature material.
The postmortem examination of the body was conducted and the body was handed over and the final rites were conducted on the body by the family.
It may be recalled that Sarvesh Pednekar last Sunday morning made an attempt to end his life by jumping down the Galgibaga River from the Galgibaga bridge.
He however, instead of drowning in the river, due to the low tide at the time, landed in the mud sludge and later was successfully rescued by Dhristhi Life Savers. He was taken to the CHC and as there were no injuries was handed over to police, who in turn called his parents and handed over the jilted man to his family on the same day.
It is reliably learnt that Sarvesh Pednekar, otherwise working abroad, had a break-up with his fiancée, who is learnt to have refused to solemnize their marriage after the initial civil registration. Sarvesh was reportedly passing through heavy depression due to the refusal and was under deep duress since then making a few attempts to end his life.
