VERNA: Verna police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving after a scooter rider allegedly lost control and crashed into a concrete pole at Sancoale.
According to the state complaint filed by ASI Paresh Fal Dessai of Verna Police Station, the accident occurred on May 2, 2026, at around 1.30 am near the Bharat Petroleum pump at Sancoale.
Police identified the rider as Akbar Ali Shaikh, a resident of Zuarinagar, Sancoale and originally from New Vaddem, Vasco da Gama.
Police said the accused was riding the scooter from Verna towards MES College in a rash and negligent manner when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a concrete pole on the roadside.
The rider and pillion rider, identified as Aftab Sidhique of Housing Board, Upasnagar, Sancoale, sustained injuries in the accident.
Verna Police have registered Crime No. 46/2026 under Sections 281 and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is being carried out by ASI Paresh Fal Dessai.
