Sangolda: In a shocking incident, a 75-year-old senior citizen was robbed of his gold chain and pendant by an unidentified person posing as a courier delivery agent.
The incident took place on June 7 around 3:30 pm at Shantivan, Alto Bella Vista, Sangolda in Bardez.
According to the complaint filed by Dr. Arun Anant Volvoikar, a resident of the same locality, the accused approached his residence under the pretext of delivering a parcel.
Taking advantage of the moment, the impersonator forcibly snatched Dr. Volvoikar’s gold chain weighing 24 grams, along with a 10-gram gold pendant of Goddess Gajantalaxmi. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at ₹1.9 lakh.
The complaint was formally registered at 9:05 pm on July 27. Police have launched a probe and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused. The incident has raised concerns over the safety of elderly residents and misuse of delivery service identities for criminal acts.
