New Delhi: Servin Sebastian won India’s first medal at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships by claiming bronze in the men’s 20km race walk event on Tuesday. The 25-year-old finished with a time of 1:21:13.60, trailing China’s Wang Zhaozhao (1:20:36.90) and Japan’s Kento Yoshikawa (1:20:44.90). Sebastian’s timing was just shy of his personal best of 1:21:23, set earlier this year when he won gold at the Uttarakhand National Games in February. Another Indian athlete, Amit, secured fifth place with a time of 1:22:14.30. India has sent a strong 59-member contingent to the championships, aiming to surpass the 27 medals won in the previous edition.
