PANAJI: To accommodate the large number of devotees swarming to Old Goa in the final days of the Exposition, Aleixo Sequeira, Environment Minister and Deputy Chairman of the Exposition Secretariat Committee, announced that a two-hour extension in the hours to venerate the Sacred Relics of St. Francis Xavier would be offered.
The veneration will now be extended by two hours starting on Sunday, starting at 6 am and lasting until 7 pm, according to a decision made by the church officials. Sequeira assured the journalists, “We will make sure that no one returns without honoring the Sacred Relics.
As the Exposition approaches the last week before the closing ceremony on January 5, 2025, the number of devotees waiting in line to venerate the Sacred Relics has increased dramatically in recent days.
So far, the timings for the veneration had been from 7 am to 6 pm till January 4. There will be no veneration on January 5, the last day of the Exposition.
