PANAJI: In a recent meeting held between the Shack Owners Association and the Department of Tourism, stakeholders expressed appreciation for the openness and proactive approach demonstrated by the Minister for Tourism.
The meeting served as a platform for shack operators to directly voice their concerns and challenges related to beach operations, coastal regulations, and infrastructure needs.
This marked a significant shift in collaborative engagement, with the Minister giving full assurance of his commitment to resolving long-standing issues impacting Goa’s beach tourism sector.
Stakeholders acknowledged the Minister’s willingness to address not only infrastructure concerns but also broader matters affecting the perception of Goa in online discourse and content creation.
“We are very thankful to the Tourism Minister for giving us this opportunity to raise our issues directly. It is encouraging to see his commitment to finding solutions and working closely with stakeholders,” said Cruz Cardozo, President, Shack Owners Welfare Society.
Adding to this, the Director of Tourism, Kedar Naik reiterated “The Department is aware of the issues brought forth by the Shack Owners’ Association and is actively working towards streamlining all related processes. A new contract has been initiated to address the management of beachside toilets, with efforts underway to ensure facilities are improved and made easily accessible and seamless for tourists.”
As Goa continues to evolve as a premier travel destination, such engagements mark a significant step toward building a cleaner, better-equipped, and more collaborative tourism ecosystem for all.
