PORVORIM: Goa’s Water Resources Minister Subhash Shirodkar on Friday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the Mirabag Bandara project, stressing that water security will not be compromised. Addressing concerns over the project, Shirodkar said, “We are setting a precedent before the House and the public; no one can win elections like this. This issue is about water, and there will be no compromise.”
Shirodkar highlighted the sacrifices made by citizens for the Selaulim dam, describing it as the lifeline of South Goa, and stated that the Mirabag project would continue along similar lines. Citing the Opa project, he asked, “Has it submerged anything?” to emphasize that development projects can be undertaken without harming communities.
He also cautioned against politicizing the issue ahead of elections. “Just because elections are approaching, don’t try to damage Goa’s image. I assure that not a single house will go under water,” Shirodkar said, reassuring residents of their safety while emphasizing the government’s focus on sustainable water management.
