CORTALIM: In a significant step towards enhancing digital education, Shree Shantadurga Higher Secondary School, Cortalim, received five desktop computers and a photocopier from Paradeep Phosphate Limited (PPL) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The equipment was handed over on Thursday afternoon by PPL Goa Unit Head Nilesh Dessai in the presence of other dignitaries.
Speaking to the media, Nilesh Dessai emphasized PPL’s commitment to community development, particularly in the Mormugao Taluka region, where the company operates. “We are focusing on two key verticals—health and education—under our CSR initiatives. Over the years, we have supported several schools in Vasco, Sada, Dabolim, and Sancoale by providing essential infrastructure, smart cards, water coolers, and computers. We also extend scholarships and awards to students from Mormugao Taluka,” said Dessai.
He further added that PPL is dedicated to understanding the specific needs of educational institutions and providing the necessary support.
“This school required computers and a photocopier, and we are happy to contribute towards its digital development. We strongly believe that the children of today are the future of tomorrow, and empowering them through education is our priority,” he said.
In addition to supporting schools, Dessai highlighted PPL’s efforts in promoting women empowerment through Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
“We are assisting over 600 women by providing them with machines and skill training, enabling them to earn a sustainable livelihood,” he stated.
The school management expressed gratitude towards PPL for their generous contribution, acknowledging the positive impact of such initiatives on students’ education and overall development.
