PANAJI: Special Investigation Team (SIT) Land Grab has arrested Esteven Elvis Francis D’Souza for forging a deed of sale by impersonating the lawful owner of property in Anjuna.
The SIT said that the accused forged the deed of sale by impersonating the lawful owner of property survey no. 423/1 of Village Panchayat Anjuna.
Also, two more accused, Maria Rosa D’Souza Gomes and Antonio Xavier Gomes, are also booked in the case.
According to the police, the accused D’Souza, is the accomplice of the mastermind Mohammed Suhail, who was earlier arrested (now out on bail) in connection with the scam.
Police said that the accused D’Souza, is involved with Suhail in allegedly preparing fake documents of properties and some of the properties which were illegally grabbed were allegedly transferred in his name and the name of his grandmother.
Police also claimed that the accused is also involved in such alleged land-grabbing cases, which were registered a few years back at the Economic Offences Cell (EOC) of the Goa police.
